The Nebraska High School Rodeo Association held a directors meeting April 30, 2011. President Rod Nelson called the meeting to order.  Board members present were Makala Butterfield,Cindy Coffman, Mark Cumpton, Doug Hinman, Mark Peterson, KC Schaack, Gordon Simonson, Jim Wakefield, Jeff White and Tricia Schaffer.  Secretaries Becky Dailey and Tara McKay.  Guests Lori Schafer & Nancy Edelman.

It was moved and seconded to approve the minutes of the February 27, 2011 meeting.

The letter was read that will be mailed to Donna Rankin addressing concerns of the 2010 Fremont rodeo.

Discussion was held on having a sponsor for the barrel covers.  We will contact current sponsors to see if they are interested in being a sponsor.  It was moved and seconded to sell the barrel cover sponsorship for $1000.  The motion was amended to include the cost of the barrel covers would be at the sponsor's expense, seconded.  Motion passed.  This sponsorship would run from the beginning of State Finals through the following rodeo year.

It was moved and seconded to accept the proposed schedule for state finals with asking to move short go to 1:00 pm.  Motion passed.

Jeff White will contact Dustin Elliot about speaking to the student members during their student meeting at state finals.

Endowment Fund has been set up with the Mid NE Community Foundation Fund.  It was moved and seconded to put the memorial money from John Bilby in the Endowment Fund at the Foundation.  Motion passed.

Lori Schafer gave her last calendar report.  She gave the following suggestion to the board.

*Start the calendar fiscal year October 1 of each year

*Tentatively list the rodeo dates on the calendar

*Distribute the calendars at the North Platte rodeo

It was moved and seconded to raise the calendar minimum to 10 per member.  Motion passed.

A condensed version of the guidelines for hosting a Nebraska High School Rodeo was presented to the board.  This will go out with the information sent to a host committee.

Next meeting will be at Stapleton following the rodeo.
