The Nebraska High School Rodeo Association held an adult director's meeting Sunday, November 6, 2011 at North Platte in conjunction with the winter banquet. President Rod Nelson called the meeting to order. Meeting was opened with a prayer. Board members present: Ray Brown, Mark Cumpton, Dan Dailey, Greg Petska, KC Schaack, Gordon Simonson, Cindy Vossler, Jim Wakefield, Justin Welsh, Jeff White and Tricia Schaffer. Student President Brandy Brown, Student Secretary Sydney O'Daniel and Student Directors: Sterling Atkins, Dustin Dailey and Tyler Viers and secretary's Tara McKay and Becky Dailey. Adult director's absent: Doug Hinman.

It was moved to approve the minutes of the August 20, 2011 meeting as read.

Financial Report:  General - $23,944.94

                            Student - $13,170.36

                            Award - $512.93

Total in Checking:               $37,628.23

Discussion was held on the proofing of the calendars.  It was suggested to email the event champions their pages and have them responsible for proofing their page.

There was discussion on changing the format of the banquet.  It was also brought up to have cowboy prom the same weekend.  The silent auction brought in $1921. Live auction total was $12,635.  Gold buckle table brought in $4,227.  Donations $58.  Total for the 2013 seniors was $18,841.

Broken Bow and Hastings had representatives at the general membership meeting to propose hosting the 2013-2014 state finals.  Bill Shirkey is with the Custer Co. Fair Board in Broken Bow and Boyd and Judy Mignery are with the Adams County Ag Society in Hastings.

Discussion was held on the draw at state finals during the long perf.

The board would like to suggest changing when the pole bending is at state finals to the Hastings committee.

It was moved and seconded to make it one attempt in bulldogging at state finals.  Motion passed.

It was moved and seconded to change judges at state finals every two years.  Motion passed.

Tricia Schaffer informed the board that the Mid Winter meeting is January 17-21 in Denver.  Any proposed rule changes need to be submitted to the national office by December 17.   It was moved and seconded to pay the expenses for the student officers to attend the mid-winter meeting.  Motion passed.

Discussion was held on losing hats during poles and barrels and shirts not being tucked in.  In general the student membership needs to pay attention and improve their rodeo attire.

Rod Nelson read a proposal from Jim Pinney regarding shooting sports.  Jim would like the shooting to be recognized as a rodeo sport.  Jim Pinney is willing to find sponsors to fund the shooting sports awards  It was suggested that in order to shoot at state finals you must qualify in an event to participate in the shooting sports.  It was moved and seconded to allow them to go and get their sponsorship for shooting sports.  Motion passed.

It was moved and seconded to purchase two new computers for the secretary's.  Motion passed.

It was moved to reimburse Becky Dailey $25 for two months of cell phone bills and then pay $30/month towards cell phone bill.  Becky had to increase her cell phone plan due to increasing calls from members.  there is no longer a land line for the rodeo association.


It was moved and seconded to adjourn the meeting. Meeting adjourned.
