Nebraska High School Rodeo Association

The board of directors of the Nebraska High School Rodeo Association is pleased to announce that Jill Austin will begin her role with the association on March 1st, 2024 as the NEHSRA Secretary. We would also like to thank Halie and Sara for their hard work and contributions to the success of the association. The board of directors decided to merge the two limited part-time secretarial positions into one more full-time position. This move creates a single point of contact for the association members for both entry and membership questions and we believe will be more efficient and effective for the membership. Jill brings 15 years of experience in rodeo association management and leadership as the Mid-States Rodeo Association Secretary. In addition to taking over the tasks of the membership and entry positions, Jill will also be taking a more active role with sponsor development and retention.

The board of directors decided in November of 2023 to merge the membership and entry secretary positions and to advertise the new position opening. The move was to rectify the misalignment of the board’s expectations and the expectations of the membership secretary with respect to job responsibilities. Our membership secretary discussed with the board multiple times that she was putting in more hours and taking on tasks in addition to what she was hired to do. In the interim, board members helped with some of the tasks that she wasn’t hired to do, but the arrangement was not sustainable for the long-term. The association has changed over the years, putting more demands on the membership secretary and the implementation of the RMS system has changed the entry line significantly. The move to one seasonal full-time secretary is what the board thought would best address our needs for the future of the association.
